Rewards for Using a Cash Rebate Card
What is the difference between a cash rebate card and a regular charge card? The rebate card gives you some kind of rebate, gift, points, or other incentive or cash equivalent each time you make a purchase. If you are going to make these purchases anyway, why not get cash rebates each time you do? The rebate amounts can add up to a nice sum of money, depending on how often you use the cash card. The credit card companies want you to use their cash cards, so they offer these rebates to you, the consumer. Cardholders get cash back reward for being loyal customers. Card vendors make more money because their products are used more, possibly offsetting the amounts of the rebates they pay. Everyone benefits from these rebate cards. How much of rebate will you get from your card? That depends on the card's terms and on the amount of the purchase. The items purchased may influence the cash-back amount too. For example, a gasoline rebate card will give you a bigger cash back award for buying gas and automobile supplies than for buying groceries. A frequent-flyer miles card gives you higher rebates for buying plane tickets than for buying movie tickets. Make sure your card gives you the kind of cash rebates that benefit you most. These are still credit cards with interest rates, so don't spend like crazy just to accumulate rebates. The best way to use these cash back cards is to pay off your balance at the end of each month. That way, you will not be charged interest on your statement, because you will not be carrying a balance from month to month. Sometimes these rebates take the form of cash payments which accumulate in your account. Often you cannot access the rebates until they reach a minimum payment limit. After that you can use the money to pay down part of your existing balance, buy online items, or have a check sent to you. The Discover Card has a cash back incentive program that works like this. The other credit lenders have their own programs, so there are many cash rebate programs from which to choose. For all your daily and routine purchase that you will make anyway, it literally pays for you to use your cash rebate card to save money you would otherwise lose by paying cash.
